Rasputin: the weirdest Russian ever!
Early Life:
Rasputin was born on January 21 in 1869 in the Siberian Village Pokrovoskoye .He was born to Yefim and Anna Parshukova, two Peasants who had seven other children but who didn't survive to adulthood.
Education:
Like most other peasants, Rasputin remained illiterate
most of his life and Local records suggest that he led an unruly youth and got
involved in small thefts.
Marriage:
After traveling for a while Rasputin met and loved Praskovya Dubrovina. They got married and had seven children but only three
survived.
Transformation:
For whatever reason, Rasputin decided to leave his family
and go on a pilgrimage where he visited St. Nicholas Monastery at
Verkhoturye in 1897 where he was spiritually transformed.
The Royal Family:
Rasputin's later travels took him to St. Petersburg in 1903
where he was later introduced to the royal family in 1905.Then in 1908, he was
able to alleviate the hemophilia of Alexi Nikolaevich the son of Nicholas II
and Alexandra. Thus, the tsarina got attached to Rasputin and he became "an
indispensable member of the royal entourage".He had so much influence on
the royal family's affairs and decisions even military ones.
Scandals:
In front of the royal family, Rasputin was the most holy man
in Russia. However, outside of royal affairs, Rasputin is claimed to seduce
other women. Reports even claim that he seduced the tsarina herself.
Assasination:
Rasputin's huge influence enraged many officials Then a group of extreme conservatives, including Prince Feliks Yusupov, Vladimir Mitrofanovich, and Grand Duke Dmitry Pavlovich (the tsar’s cousin), formed a conspiracy to eliminate Rasputin.Rasputin was then invited to Yusupov's home where they served him cyanide cake and wine. Rasputin dined hearty and still lived,so they shot him twice and threw him through a hole in the ice where he drowned.
